Black cherries
Moroccan black cherries are attractive for their deep color, sweet, slightly tart taste and juicy flesh. Highly prized on international markets, they benefit from the Kingdom's unique climatic conditions, enabling high-quality production. Thanks to its constantly evolving agricultural expertise, Morocco has established itself as a reliable and competitive supplier of black cherries, particularly for European and Middle Eastern markets.
Main growing regions
Black cherries are grown in several areas with temperate climates and ideal altitudes, guaranteeing slow ripening and a high sugar content:
Middle Atlas (Ifrane, Azrou): regions renowned for their large-caliber cherries.
Taza: a fast-growing region with excellent taste quality.
Fès-Meknès: a rich fruit-growing tradition, providing know-how and stability.
Oulmès - Khénifra: high altitude, ideal for late harvests.
Dakhla (agricultural test in progress): emerging potential for off-season production.
Harvesting takes place from May to July, with volumes varying according to variety and season.
