Red cherries
Moroccan red cherries are appreciated for their natural brightness, sweet taste and firm, juicy flesh. Grown in regions with a temperate, sunny climate, they benefit from optimal conditions for developing remarkable taste quality. Their vivid color and aroma appeal to both fresh and processed markets. Thanks to its agricultural know-how and logistical capabilities, Morocco exports tons of red cherries every year to Europe, the Gulf and Africa.
Main growing regions
Red cherries thrive in agricultural areas at medium to high altitudes, where the thermal difference favors sugar concentration:
Middle Atlas (Ifrane, Azrou): terroirs renowned for fruit quality and size.
Taza: favorable conditions for balanced ripening.
Khénifra - Oulmès: late production with plump cherries.
Fès - Meknès: great fruit-growing tradition with well-structured orchards.
Dakhla (greenhouse test): pilot phase for early harvest.
Harvesting takes place between May and July, depending on variety and region.
